Everton Football Print: ‘Dan Gosling’s dramatic extra time goal for Everton v Liverpool in the FA Cup Fourth Round Replay 2009’. Limited Edition Print of 50.
Everton wonder kid Dan Gosling struck a dramatic winner just two minutes from the end of extra-time to settle the FA Cup fourth round replay against a battered Liverpool.
Liverpool, who lost Steven Gerrard to injury early on and saw Lucas Leiva sent off in the second half, looked to be surviving for a penalty shoot-out.
But 19 year old Gosling, showed remarkable composure as the ball fell at his feet. Wrong footing 3 Liverpool players he jinked to his right to curl home a stunning shot past Pepe Reina.
Goodison Park erupted. It was a moment of sheer brilliance that would place the youngster firmly in Everton Folklore.
It all left Everton celebrating, with Gosling saying: “It’s a great day for the club and all the fans”.
“It shows the manager is not afraid to bring on youngsters”.
Everton boss David Moyes had also sent on 17-year-old Jack Rodwell and between them they caused havoc against a Liverpool team that struggled in extra-time.
Inspired substitutions, right there Mr Moyes.
And brilliance from the young Dan Gosling.
