Man Utd Football Gift: ‘Solskjaer Champions League Winner’ Limited Edition Print.
The most incredible climax to a Champions League Final ever? How many of you were still celebrating the first goal when suddenly the second flew in!?
In three crazy injury time minutes at Camp Nou in 1999, Manchester United stunned the watching millions – not just the Bayern Munich team.
Within two minutes and 17 seconds of stoppage time, Teddy Sheringham had swiped in a reaction shot to beat the keeper, and moments later the ‘baby faced assassin’- super sub Solskjær shot out a foot and poked the ball into the roof of the Bayern goal for United to take the lead.
It was one of those surreal moments that’ll be remembered for a long time. United’s ‘never say die’ philosophy was fantastic to watch and an inspiration to every budding footballer.
Without key players Roy Keane and Paul Scholes, Solskjær had turned the game on its head to win United’s second European crown and a famous treble! And Bayern Munich’s captain Matthäus later commented that “it was not the best team that won but the luckiest.” Nice to see he took it well…
Alex Ferguson summed up the match most succinctly immediately after the final whistle with his famous comment: “Football… bloody hell!”
Even the Bayern Munich ribbons had already been attached to the the trophy ready for the presentation, before United scored their two late, late goals.
Lucky we’ve created a permanent reminder of this fantastic win for all United fans out there.
